Equity Market Rebounds as Inflation Declines Further to 17.38%

The Nigerian equity market closed trading activities for today (Tuesday) on the Northward trajectory, to reverse the previous day bearish sentiment, as NGX-ASI and Market Capitalization grew by 0.11%. The positive performance was due to investors’ increased buying interest in the Industrial Sector, as inflation declines further to 17.38%. Furthermore, the market breadth closed at par, recording 16 gainers and 16 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) grew by 44.96 absolute points, representing a rise of 0.11%, to close at 39,550.36 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value gained 23.42 billion, representing an increase of 0.11% to close at N20.61 trillion.

HONYFLOUR emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +9.78%, while SCOA emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.74%.

Today’s market positive performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; PHARMDEKO (+9.24%), WEMABANK (+3.70%), NEIMETH (+3.66%), DANGCEM (+3.31%), UPDC (+3.25%), CAVERTON (+2.25%), WAPIC (+2.04%), UACN (+1.95%), FIDELITYBK (+1.68%), STERLNBANK (+1.32%), TRANSCORP (+1.06%), AIICO (+1.05%), NAHCO (+0.75%), FBNH (+0.68%), and  LIVESTOCK (+0.51%).
