Equity Market Rallies by N4 billion to Close the Week in the Green

The Nigerian equity market ended trading activities for the last day of the week on a positive note, to extend the bullish sentiment to two consecutive trading session. The positive performance was as a result of bargain hunters increased buying interest in the Banking and the Oil & Gas Sectors, as NGX-ASI increased by 0.02%. Resultantly, the market breadth closed positively, recording 18 gainers as against 10 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) grew by 8.47 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.02%, to close at 39,485.65 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value gained 4.42 billion, representing a rise of 0.02% to close at N20.57 trillion.

MORISON emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +9.47%, while UNILEVER emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -10.00%.

Today’s market positive performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; FTNCOCOA (+9.09%), SOVRENIN (+8.70%), UPDC (+8.28%), BOCGAS (+6.31%), CHAMPION (+4.76%), CHIPLC  (+3.70%), LIVESTOCK (+2.84%), HONYFLOUR (+2.60%), DANGSUGAR (+2.00%), OANDO (+1.69%), FLOURMILL (+1.22%), UBA (+0.67%), STERLNBANK(+0.65%), NEIMETH (+0.50%), ZENITHBANK (+0.41%), MTNN (+0.29%), and  UCAP (+0.28%)

The Brent crude and WTI crude appreciated by $1.35 and $0.45 to $72.24 and $68.67 on (26/08/2021) from $71.28 and $68.36 on (25/08/2021), representing a rise of 1.35% and 0.45% respectively. Also, the Bonny Light depreciated by $0.69 to $69.14 on (26/08/2021) from $69.62 on (25/08/2021), representing a 0.48 increase in price.
