Equity market opens new week with negative sentiment
The Nigeria equity market on Monday opened the new trading week lower, declining by 0.15%. The downswing was driven by sell-off on DANGCEM, GUARANTY, ACCESS and 21 other stocks. consequently, the market breadth closed negatively, recording 18 gainers as against 24 losers.

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) decreased by 41.42 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.15% to close at 27,657.27 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N20.16 billion representing an dip of 0.15%, to close at N13.46 trillion.
NCR & TRANSEXPR emerged the top gainers while PRESCO emerged as top loser.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; PRESCO (-9.93%), UAC-PROP (-9.86%), UACN (-9.49%), NEM (-6.98%), OANDO (-5.00%), FCMB (-2.37%), ACCESS (-2.04%), FBNH (-1.77%), NB (-1.05%), WAPCO (-0.66%), DANGCEM (-0.26%), and GURANTY (-0.17%).

The Naira exchange remain unchanged to close at N306.95/$1, as against last Friday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N362.04, traded high at N364.00 and eventually closed at N362.21 representing a 0.05% appreciation against last Friday’s position. A total of $442.36 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 4.71%, representing a 2.86% appreciation against last Friday’s position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 4.00%, representing a 2.43% appreciation against last Friday’s position.

The NASD OTC market remain unchanged from last Friday’s closing position, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 704.19 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization closed at N505.91 billion as against last Friday’s position. However, aggregate volume declined by 50.89 % while the value grew by 125.19% as investors traded a total of 49,300 units of shares valued at N14.40 million in 5 deals.
