Equity market makes marginal gain after eight consecutive days of decline
After eight (8) consecutive decline in the equity market performance, the market made a marginal gain of 0.06% to closed today’s trading session. The turnaround was driven by gains in oil/gas, insurance and banking sectors. Consequently, market breadth closed positive, recording 18 gainers and 12 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) grew 17.55 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.06% to close at 30,046.70 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization gained N7.73 billion, representing a growth of 0.06% to close at N13.23 trillion.
FO emerged the top gainer while THOMASWY emerged as top loser.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; FO (+9.91%), WEMBANK (+3.33%), OANDO (+2.63%), ACCESS (1.59%), NB (+0.87%), GUARANTY (+0.65%), DANGCEM (+0.55%), ETI (+0.51%), and MTNN (+0.37%)

The Naira exchange rate at the official window remain unchanged to closed at N307.00/$1, against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.17, traded high at N361.50 and eventually closed at N360.51 representing 0.04% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $142.13 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 5.71%, to remain unchanged as against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 5.29%, representing a 0.14% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

The NASD market remain unchanged after today’s trading sessions, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) close at 754.61 points against yesterday’s index. The Market Capitalization also closed at N542.14 billion. However, Market activities measured by aggregate volume and value declined by 98.38% and 99.70% respectively. Investors traded a total of 2,400 units of shares valued at N130,214 in 3 deals.
