Equity Market Extends Negative Sentiment, With a Marginal Loss of 0.002%

Local Bourse closed trading activities for today (Tuesday) with a marginal loss, to extend the negative sentiment to four trading sessions. The performance was due to investors’ reduced interest in major sectors stocks. Hence, the ASI and Market Capitalization closed by -0.002%. However, the market breadth closed positively, recording 17 gainers as against 13 losers.

In summary. the All-Share Index (ASI) declined by 0.65 absolute points, representing a drop of 0.002%, to closed at 37,857.24 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value shed N340 million, representing a decrease of 0.002% to close at N19.72 trillion.

NCR emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +9.64 while IKEJAHOTEL emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.09%.

Today’s market performance downturn was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; FBNH(-4.00%), PZ(-1.72%), UCAP(-1.27%), ZENITHBANK(-0.41%), GTCO(-0.34%), and FCMB(-0.33%),

The Brent crude declined by $0.39 to $75.16 on (12/07/2021) from $75.55 (09/07/2021), representing a 0.52% decrease in price.
