Equity market extend free fall to five successive trading sessions
Activities on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) extended its free fall to five successive trading sessions as the All-Share Index (ASI) dipped by 0.31% at the close of today’s trading. Of all the five market sectors, only Industrial goods recorded a marginal gain of 0.02%, while other closed in the red. Consequently, market breadth closed negative, recording 10 gainers and 23 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) shed 94.94 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.31% to close at 30,432.13 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization lost N41.81 billion, representing a dip of 0.31% to close at N13.40 trillion.
CUTIX & NPFMCRFBK emerged the top gainer while PZ emerged as top loser.
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; HONYFLOUR (-5.26%), DANGSUGAR (-4.17%), MOBIL (-2.86%), GUARANTY (-0.98%), FLOURMILL (-0.17%), NESTLE (-0.68%), ETI (-0.50%), MTNN (-0.33%) and ZENITHBANK (-0.25%).

The Naira exchange rate at the official window remained unchanged at N306.95/$1 against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.56, traded high at N361.50 and eventually closed at N360.75 representing a 0.02% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $330.61 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 11.43%, representing a 2.21% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 10.86%, representing a 2.57% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD market today closed positively after three trading sessions in red, activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) grew by 1.17% to close at 7753.35 points against yesterdays index. The Market Capitalization gained N6.28 billion closing at N541.24 billion. Conversely, Market activities measured by aggregate volume and value declined by 99.12% and 71.53% respectively. Investors traded a total of 603,799 units of shares valued at N14.45 million in 17 deals.
