Equity market dips below N11 trillion market Cap
The Nigerian equity market today extended downtrend by shedding 1.22%, causing market capitalization to dip below the N11 trillion mark. Market breadth closed positive recording 26 gainers as against 19 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) shed by 361.32 absolute points, representing a decline of 1.22% to close at 29,159.74 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization decreased by N135.79 billion representing a dip of 1.22% to close at N10.96 trillion.
CAVERTON, JAPAUL OIL & UAC-PROP emerged the top gainers while CUTIX emerged as the top loser.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; CCNN (-8.79%), STANBIC (-3.77%), TRANSCORP (-3.48%), DANGCEM (-3.23%), NESTLE (-1.94%), WEMABANK (-1.35%), GUARANTY (-1.35%), OANDO (-1.00%), DANGSUGAR (-0.71%), and OKOMUOIL (-0.69%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE
The Naira exchange rate at the official window remained unchanged at N306.95/$1 against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.40, traded high at N361.15 and eventually closed at N360.63, representing a 0.04% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $165.75 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
MONEY MARKET
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 9.82%, representing an 8.75% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 8.96%, representing an 8.89% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD market closed bearish after today’s trading activities as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) declined by 1.40% to close at 758.21 points. Market Capitalization also dipped by N7.75 billion to settle at N544.73 billion. Market activities measured by aggregate volume and value declined by 3.43% and 86.80% respectively. Investors traded a total of 500,104 units of shares valued at N9.84 million in 10 deals.
Six securities were traded on the OTC Platform today and they include SDCSCSPlc, SDFCWAMCO, and SDNDEP
