Equity market completes bearish week with a 0.36% loss
The equity market on Friday completed a 4-days losing streak in the new month, as the market performance indicator hedged further down by 0.36%. The bearish performance came on the backdrop of sell-off on MTNN, Guaranty, Zenithbank and 14 other stocks. Consequently, the market breadth closed negatively with 17 losers as against 11 gainers.

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) decreased by 98.24 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.36% to close at 26,987 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N47.82 billion representing a dip of 0.36%, to close at N13.14 trillion.
UAC-PROP emerged the top gainer while FIDSON emerged as top loser.
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; FIDSON (-9.88%), CCNN (-9.76%), FO (-9.76%), NASCON (-3.65%), ETI (-3.18%), UACN (-2.96%), GUARANTY (-1.85%), FBNH (-1.85%), WEMABANK (-1.69%), ACCESS (-1.37%), ZENITHBANK (-1.37%), and MTNN (-0.38%).

The Naira remained flat to close at N307.00/$1, as against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N362.08, traded high at N363.35 and eventually closed at N362.77 representing 0.07% depreciation as against yesterday’s position. A total of $101.98 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 3.43%, representing a 6.21% depreciation against yesterday’s position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 2.71%, representing a 5.86% depreciation against yesterday’s position.

The NASD OTC market sustained unchanged sentiment to three(3) consecutive trading sessions, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 699.63 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization closed at N502.64 billion as against yesterday’s position. However, the aggregate volume and value declined by 99.20% and 99.78% respectively, as investors traded a total of 701 units of shares valued at N24,950 in 3 deals.
