The Nigeria stock market closed the year 2018 on a positive note gaining 1.27%, this was impacted by gains in DANCEM, SEPLAT and 30 other stocks. Market breadth closed positive, recording 32 gainers and 17 losers. However, the year performance of the market closed on a negative sentiment

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was up by 392.78 absolute points, representing an increase of 1.27%, closing at 31,430.50 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N383.62 billion representing a growth of 3.38%, closing at N11.72trillion as a result of 11,886,823,200 ordinary shares of CCNN which was listed on the daily official list of the exchange, this arose from the scheme of merger between CCNN and Kalambaina Cement Company Limited
VITAFOAM emerged the top gainer while STANBIC emerged the top loser.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DIAMONDBANK (+9.55%), SEPLAT (+8.02%), FBNH (+5.30%), FLOURMILL (5.24%), DANGCEM (3.66%), WEMABANK (+3.28%), OANDO (+2.04%), TRANSCORP (+0.76%), GUARANTY (+0.44%), NESTLE (+0.34%) and ZENITHBANK (+0.22%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N364.66, traded high at N365.50 and eventually closed at N364.00, representing a 0.14% appreciation against last Friday’s closing price. A total of $211.48 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 20.17%, representing a 1.75% appreciation against last Friday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed at 19.00% representing a 1.83% appreciation against last Friday’s closing position.
