Equity Market bounces back, gains 0.37%.

The Equity Market closed higher today, gaining 0.37%, to reverse yesterday’s negative sentiment. The upturn was aided by ZENITHBANK, FBNH and 17 others which closed in the green. Market breadth closed positive, recording 19 gainers and 15 losers.

 

NSE Trading Floor

 

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was up by 120.20 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.37%, closing at 32,228.50 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization increased by N43.88 billion, representing a growth of 0.37%, closing at N11.77 trillion.

UNITYBNK emerged the top gainer while CCNN emerged the top loser.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DANGFLOUR (+3.33%), FIDELITYBK (+3.09%), FBNH (+2.03%), NESTLE (+1.40%), ZENITHBANK (+1.25%), GUARANTY (+1.21%) and NB (+0.12%).

The Naira at the inter-bank rate closed at N306.65, unchanged against yesterday’s closing price.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N363.42, traded high at N365.00 and eventually closed at N363.65, representing a 0.02% depreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $82.20 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

 

MONEY MARKET

Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 4.25%, representing a 0.33% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate  closed  at 3.67% representing a 0.17% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.
