Domestic Bourse Opens Week In Red to Halt Bullish Gaining Streak

The local bourse closed transaction for today (Monday) on a negative note to halt the seven consecutive days gaining outcomes. The negative downturn was due to sell-off sentiments in majorly consumer goods and industrial sectors, as  NGX-ASI plunges by 0.38%. However, the market breadth closed at par, recording 17 gainers and 17 losers

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed by 154.36 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.38%, to close at 40,714 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value decreased by N80.44 billion, representing a decline of 0.38% to close at N21.22 trillion.

SOVRENINS emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of -8.33%, while NEM emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of +9.95%.

Today’s market negative performance was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; SOVRENINS (-8.33%), NB (-6.06%), AIICO (-5.26%), UPL (-5.06%), UNIVINSURE (-4.55%), LIVESTOCK  (-3.36%), HONYFLOUR (-3.09%), NPFMCRF(-2.78%), STERLINBANK (-2.61%),STANBIC (-2.56%), BUACEMENT (-2.50%), REGALINS (-2.50%), GTCO (-2.10%), TRANSCORP (-2.06%), GUINNESS (-1.86%), FBNH (-1.02%) and MANSARD(-0.43%).
