Decline in 26 Stocks drive Equity market to N67 billion loss
Activities in the Nigeria equity market reversed yesterday’s positive sentiment to decline by 0.60%. Despite this, Dangote Flour extended its rally amidst the acquisition offer by Olam International Ltd to purchase nearly all its shares (5 billion ordinary shares) for N130 billion. Market breadth closed negative recording 23 gainers as against 26 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) declined 179.03 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.60% to close at 29,740.41 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization decreased by N67.28 billion representing a dip of 0.60% to close at N11.18 trillion.
DANGFLOUR emerged the top gainer, while OKOMUOIL emerged as the top loser.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; FBNH (-8.23%), ETERNA (-6.45%), INTBREW (-4.76%), ACCESS (-4.35%), DANGSUGAR (-4.35%), FCMB (-1.10%),TRANSCORP (-0.88%), GUARANTY (-0.87%), DANGCEM (-0.59%), NB (-0.54%), ZENITHBANK (-0.47%) and FLOURMILL (-0.31%).

The Naira exchange rate at the official window remained unchanged from yesterday’s position of N306.90/$1.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.30, traded high at N361.40 and eventually closed at N360.64, representing a 0.01% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $274.11 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 17.29%, representing a 10.00% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 16.43%, representing a 10.29% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD market again remained unchanged after today’s trading session as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) close at 760.19 points. Market Capitalization also remain unchanged to settle at N546.15 billion. Market activities measured by aggregate volume declined by 87.72% while the value grew by 1.65% . Investors traded a total of 52,704 units of shares valued at N311.36 thousand in 8 deals.
