Dangcem Share-Repurchase Announcement Helped Local Bourse to Extend Positive Outlook
The local bourse today (Monday) rake-in a total of N333.80 billion (or 1.74%) in value appreciation, largely as a result of investors’ positive reaction to the announcement of the first tranche of Dangote Cement’s planned repurchase of 10% of its total share outstanding, scheduled for December 30-31, 2020. Today’s positive performance also extends the gaining streak on the local bourse to sixth consecutive sessions, despite market breadth closing at par with 23 gainers and losers apiece.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) gained 638.65 absolute points, representing a gain of 1.74% to close at 37,443.40 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value also appreciated by N333.807 billion, representing a growth of 1.74% to close at N19.570 trillion.
BOCGAS emerged top of the gainers’ chart (in terms of percentage gain) with a maximum price appreciation of +10.00%, while ETERNA emerged top of the losers’ chart with a price depreciation of -9.89%.
Today’s uptrend was also driven by price appreciation in medium and large capitalized stocks amongst which are; DANGCEM (+9.98%), OANDO (+9.87), PZ (+6.90%) FLOURMILL (+2.50%), WAPCO (+2.27%), VITAFOAM (+1.40%), GUINNESS (+0.53%), and STANBIC (+0.11%).
