DANGCEM leads the basket of 17 losers as ASI halts 4 days Uptrend

The Equity Market closed lower today, shedding 2.37% to halt uptrend of four consecutive trading days. Market breadth closed positive, recording 17 gainers and 16 losers.

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was down by 787.85 absolute points, representing a dip of 2.37%, closing at 33,403.60 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization decreased by N287.62 billion, representing a dip of 2.37%, closing at N11.83 trillion.

DIAMONDBNK emerged the top gainer while MCNICHOLS emerged the top loser.

The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DANGCEM (-6.76%), UNILEVER (-5.81%), FBNH (-4.66%), FLOURMILL (-4.15%), WEMABANK (-3.23), OANDO (-2.78%) and NESTLE (-2.14%).

The Naira at the inter-bank rate closed unchanged at N306.55, against yesterday’s closing price.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N363.82, traded high at N365.00 and eventually closed at N364.01, representing a 0.02% depreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $192.03 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

 

MONEY MARKET

Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 17.21%, representing a 1.43% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate  closed  at 16.67% representing a 1.67% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position.
