The Nigerian equity market closed today (Thursday) on a bullish note, extending the gaining streak to six consecutive trading sessions. The positive sentiment was driven by investors’ bargain hunting in all the major sectors, save for the insurance sector. Consequently, the market indicators (NGX-ASI and market capitalization) surged by 0.16%. Similarly, the market breadth closed positively, recording 24 gainers as against 20 losers

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) grew by 63.95 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.16%, to close at 40,829.15 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value increased by N33.3 billion, representing a gain of 0.16% to close at N21.28 trillion.

UPL emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) with a price appreciation of +9.92%, while BOCGAS emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) for today, with a price depreciation of -9.87%.

Today’s market positive performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; UPL (+9.92%), PRESCO (+5.92%), UNIVINSURE (+4.76%), CHAMS (+4.76%), UPDC (+3.65%),  ETI  (+3.45%), FBNH (+3.09%), ABCTRANS (+3.03%), CHAMPION (+2.44%), OKOMUOIL (+2.39%), UBA (+1.94%), WAPCO (+1.52%), WEMABANK (+1.32%), FIDELITYBK (+1.16%), INTBREW (+1.11%), ACCESS (+1.08%),  ZENITHBANK (+0.42%), FCMB (+0.33%) and VITAFOAM (+0.29%)
