Bulls hit back on the equity market as ASI gains 3.68%
After two consecutive trading days of decline on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, the market turned positive as the All Share Index (NSE-ASI) recorded a gain of 3.68% due to increased bargain hunting by investors on large and medium cap stocks during today’s trading activities. Consequently, all market sectors gained in their respective index as MTNN and Dangcem contributed majorly to the gain. Market breadth closed positive, recording 30 gainers and 6 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) gained 1112.29 absolute points, representing a growth of 3.68% to close at 31,307.00 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization increased by N489.91 billion, representing a growth of 3.68% to close at N13.79 trillion.
ETI emerged the top gainer while ETERNA emerged as top loser.
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; ETI (+10.00%), UBA (+9.65%), ACCESS (+9.48%), ZENITHBANK (+9.11%), OANDO (+8.14%), SEPLAT (+5.75%), FBNH (+5.71%), GUARANTY (+5.43%), DANGCEM (+5.00%), NESTLE (+3.57%), NB (+3.45%), MTNN (+1.96%), STANBIC (+0.48%) and DANGSUGAR (+0.37%).

The Naira exchange rate at the official window closed at N306.95/$1, representing a 0.02% depreciation against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.23, traded high at N361.40 and eventually closed at N360.63 representing a 0.01% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $136.97 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 13.43%, representing a 1.86% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 12.00%, representing a 2.50% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD market today closed positive, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) grew 0.27% to close at 751.91 points. Market Capitalization also grew by N1.46 billion to close at N540.20 billion. Conversely, market activities measured by aggregate volume and value declined by 18.06% and 83.07% respectively. Investors traded a total of 8,455 units of shares worth N463,374 in 13 deals.
