Blue-Chip Stocks Plunge NGX-ASI by 1.81%

The Local bourse closed the trading session for today (Tuesday) in a red zone, extending the negative sentiment to the second day, as a result of sell-off in bellwether stocks like AIRTELAFRI, BUACEMENT, ZENITHBANK, and 20 others. Hence, the year-to-date (YTD) slipped to -6.02. Consequently, the market indicators (NGX-ASI and capitalization) declined by 1.81%. Furthermore, the market breadth closed negatively recording 23 losers against 18 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 698.23 absolute points, representing a decline of 1.81% to close at 37,847.07 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value lost N363.91 billion, representing a decrease of 1.81% to close at N19.73 trillion.

FIDSON emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +10.00 while AIRTELAFRI emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -10.00%.

Today’s market downturn was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; PZ(5.17%), PRESCO(-4.47%), NEIMETH(-3.37%), HONEYFLOUR(-2.78%) BUACEMENT(-2.71%), LIVESTOCK(-2.17%), FBNH(-2.05%), CHIPLC(-1.54%), TRANSCORP(-1.10%), NASCON(-1..03%), UACN(-1.01%), STANBIC(-0.88%), ZENITHBANK(-0.42%), and FLOURMILLS(-0.33%).
