Blue-Chip Stocks Led Local Bourse To Its Highest Day Gain In Almost 9-Months

The Nigerian Local Bourse today (Wednesday) closed transactions on a positive note to halt the bearish sentiment of two consecutive trading days, as NGX-ASI surges by 1.89% (highest day gain since on the 4th of January 2021) and investors’ wealth grew by 382.06bn. Today’s upturn was buoyed by buy-interest on blue-chip stocks of the Industrial, Consumer Goods, and Banking sectors. Resultantly, the market breadth closed positively, recording 24 gainers as against 14 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 733.3 absolute points, representing an increase of 1.89%, to close at 39,592.29 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value grew by N382.06 billion, representing a gain of 1.89% to close at N20.63 trillion.

NNFM emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) with a price appreciation of +6.88%, while JBERGER and MANSARD emerged as the joint-top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price depreciation of -10.00%.

Today’s market positive performance was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; NNFM (+6.88%), FBNH (+6.62%), DANGCEM (+6.53%), NESTLE (+6.36%), COURTEVILLE (+6.06%), PRESCO (+5.48%), AFRIPRUD (+5.13%), JAIZBANK (+5.08%), MBENEFIT (+3.45%), UCAP (+2.30%), UNILEVER (+2.27%), CUTIX (+2.08%), UBA (+2.01%), ETI (+1.89%), LINKASSUR (+1.69%), UACN (+1.49%), ZENITHBANK (+0.86%), GTCO (+0.72%), WAPCO (+0.66%), ACCESS (+0.55%), NEM (+0.53%) and  GUINNESS (+0.17%).
