Blue-chip stocks Spur Equity Market to End the Week in the Green

Equity market closed market session for the week on a positive note, to overturn the previous day’s loss with a 0.21% gain. The price appreciation was encouraged by buy-interest in blue-chip stocks, such as; ACCESS, FBNH, MTNN, and 10 others. However, the market breadth closed negatively, recording 16 losers as against 13 gainers.

In summary. the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 80.28 absolute points, representing a gain of 0.21%, to close at 37,947.18 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value rose by N41.83 billion, representing an increase of 0.01% to close at N19.77 trillion.

CAP emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of +9.47 while IKEJAHOTELS emerged as a  top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.23%.

Today’s market performance upturn was driven by price appreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; CAP(+9.47%), UCAP(+3.17%), OANDO(+2.81%), ACCESS(+2.22%), JAPAULGOLD(+2.00%), UBA(+1.97%), ETI(+1.92%), FBNH(+1.39%), STERLNBANK(+0.65%), ZENITHBANK(+0.62%), MTNN(+0.61%), UNILEVER(+0.38%), and GTCO(+0.1%),

Nigeria’s foreign reserve strengthened by $6.77 million to $33.10 billion on (14/07/2021) from $33.09 billion on (13/07/2021).

The Brent crude declined by $1.29 to $73.47 on (15/07/2021) from $74.76 (14/07/2021), representing a 1.73% reduction in price.
