Bears tighten grip on the Equity market, as NGX-ASI Dips Marginally by 0.01%

The Nigerian domestic market ended today’s (Thursday) trading activities on a bearish note,  thereby extending the losing streak to four consecutive trading sessions, as NGX-ASI contracted by 0.01%. The performance was buoyed by investors’ profit-taking sentiments in all the major sectors except oil & gas stocks. Hence, the ASI and Market Capitalization declined by 0.01%. However, the market breadth closed negatively, recording 21 losers as against 9 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed 3.19 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.01%, to close at 39,201.33 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value lost N1.7 billion, representing a drop of 0.01% to close at N20.42 trillion.

CHAMS emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of +4.76%, while CORNERST emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of -7.69%.

Today’s market negative performance was driven by price depriciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; CORNERST(-7.69%),AIICO (-6.86%), LIVESTOCK (-5.45%), HONYFLOUR(-5.13%),UPDC(-5.08%), REGALINS (-3.92%), WEMABANK(-3.61%),STELINBANK (-3.23%),LASACO (-2.16%), FCMB(-1.67%), FEDELITYBK(-1.29%), ZENITHBANK(-0.83%), ACCESS (-0.53%) and WAPCO(-0.44%)
