Bears Sustain Grip on Nigerian stocks as Investors Wealth Dip by N1.67 Billion

Trading activities on the Nigeria domestic bourse today (Friday) closed on a negative region, to take the market bearish sentiments to five consecutive trading days. Consequently, NGX-ASI and market capitalization declined marginally by 0.01%, The price depreciation was due to investors’ sustained sell-off in bellwether stocks like BUACEMENT, GUARANTY, ACCESS, and 13 others. However, the market breadth closed at par, recording 16 losers against 16 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 4.06 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.01% to close at 38,324.07 points. While the overall Market Capitalization value lost N1.67 billion, representing a dip of 0.01% to close at N19.78trillion.

PRESTIGE emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of 8.16%, while CILEASING emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.78%.

Today’s market downturn was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; CHAMS(-9.09%), JBERGER(-9.05%), ROYALEX(-8.82%), ABCTRANSPORT(-6.82%), JAPAULOIL(-5.36%), SOVERNINS(-3.70%), OANDO(-3.33%), PZ(-1.85%), FIDELITYBANK(-1.72%), AIICO(-1.55%) GUARANTY(-0.85%), LASACO(-0.65%) ACCESS(-0.60%), UCAP(-0.33%), and BUACEMENT(-0.20%).
