Bears Roar Louder as NGX-ASI Extends Negative Sentiment to The Third Consecutive Trading Day, Sheds 0.09%

Transactions on the Nigerian Bourse closed for today (Wednesday) on a bearish note, taking the trading losses to the third consecutive day. The negative sentiment was driven by Investors’ sell-off in NB, DANGSUGAR, UACN, and 14 others. Consequently, NGX-ASI declined by 0.09%. Furthermore, the market breadth closed negatively, recording  17 losers as against 9 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) dipped by 35.43 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.09%, to close at 39,184.18 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value shed 18.46 billion, representing a decrease of 0.09% to close at N20.42 trillion.

AIICO emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of +4.04%, while FTNCOCOA emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of -8.77%.

Today’s market negative performance was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; MORISON (-8.77%), UPDC (-5.42%), WEMABANK (-4.65%), HONYFLOUR (-4.21%),LINKASSURE (-3.45%), CHIPLC  (-3.17%), NB (-2.93%), MANSARD (-2.27%), UACN (-1.82%), ACCESS(-1.10%), FBNH (-0.67%), DANGSUGAR (-0.56%), and OANDO (-0.45%)
