Bears return as equity market sheds 0.14%
The Nigerian equity market shed 0.14% to resume the new week on a low. The decline was driven by fall in prices in some medium and large capitalized stocks in the Banking, Industrial and Insurance sectors of the market. The market breadth closed positive, with 24 gainers as against 19 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) decreased by 42.09 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.14% to close at 29,809.20 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N18.55 billion, representing a dip of 0.14% to close at N13.14 trillion.
CHAMPION emerged the top gainer while CCNN & NEM emerged as top losers.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; CCNN (-10.00%), DANGSUGAR (-7.66%), WEMABANK (-4.48%), ACCESS (-4.35%), FCMB (-3.01%), NB (-2.50%), ETERNA (-1.37%), FBNH (-0.71%), and GUARANTY (-0.48%)

The Naira exchange rate after today’s transaction, closed at N306.90/$1 representing a 0.02% appreciation against last Friday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.25, traded high at N361.65 and eventually closed at N360.38 representing a 0.03% appreciation as against last Friday’s closing position. A total of $291.93 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 10.43%, representing 1.21% appreciation as against last Friday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 9.86%, representing a 1.14% appreciation against last Friday’s closing position.

NASD OTC MARKET
The NASD market closed positive at the end of today’s trading session, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) grew by 0.24% to close at 726.28 points against last Friday’s index. Also, the Market Capitalization gained N1.27billion, to close at N520.52 billion. However, Market activities measured by aggregate volume increased by 6.73% while value traded decreased by 55.95%. Investors traded a total of 207,286 units of shares valued at N13.78 million in 17 deals.
