Bears claw at Local bourse as NSE-ASI halts two days positive momentum
Transactions on the Nigeria equity market today (Friday) ended the trading week on a negative note with a dip of 0.17%, to halt the previous positive momentum of two consecutive trading days. The downturn was buoyed by persistent profit-taking on some blue-chip stocks like GUARANTY, UBA, DANGSUGAR and 9 other. Consequently, the market breadth closed on a negative note, recording 12 losers as against 10 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 42.40 absolute points, representing a dip of 0.17% to close at 24,287.66 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size shed N22.37 billion, representing a contraction of 0.17% to close at N12.67 trillion
GLAXOSMITH emerged as the top gainer while LINKASSURE emerged as the top loser.
The downturn was impacted by loses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; JAPAULOIL (-8.33%), NB (-2.28%), GUARANTY (-2.27%), DANGSUGAR (-1.64%) UBN (-0.92%) and UBA (-0.81%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N388.07, traded high at N390.50, and eventually closed at N388.50, representing a 0.13% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. A total of $37.04 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 21.75%, representing an 18.33% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 20.33%, representing a 17.67% appreciation against the previous day’s position.

The NASD OTC market today (Friday) closed on a negative note, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 706.44, representing a 0.84% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization shed N4.41 billion closed at N518.93 billion, representing a 0.84% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Consequently, the aggregate volume decreased by 42.89% while the aggregated value increased by 979.61%, as investors traded a total of 750,578 shares, worth N157.54 million in 11 deal.
