Bearish sentiment persists as equity market dipped by 0.56%
Trading activities in the Nigerian Equity market extended its bearish trend to six consecutive trading sessions as the NSE All Share Index, the major performance indicator fell by 0.56%. Similarly, market breadth closed negative, with 8 gainers as against 26 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) decreased by 158.08 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.56% to close at 28,042.80 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N77.05 billion, representing a dip of 0.56% and closed at N13.67 trillion.
AGLEVENT emerged the top gainer while JBERGER emerged as top loser
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; JBERGER (-9.77%) HONYFLOUR (-7.07%), WEMABANK (-6.67%), FCMB (-4.38%), FLOURMILL (-4.11%), ACCESS (-3.13%), WAPCO (-2.63%) UBA (-1.75%), STANBIC (-1.27%), GUARANTY (-1.02%), FO (-0.80%), ZENITHBANK (-0.80%), DANGSUGAR (-0.48%), NESTLE (-0.40%), and DANGCEM (-0.29%).

The Naira exchange rate remain unchanged to close at N306.95/$1 as against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.99, traded high at N362.50 and eventually closed at N361.61 representing a 0.10% depreciation as against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $340.04 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 4.50%, representing 1.43% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 3.86%, representing a 1.36% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

The NASD market closed positive after today’s trading transaction to halt its last two loosing streak, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) grew by 1.35% to close at 735.01 points against yesterday’s index. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N7.05 billion, to close at N528.06 billion. The market activities measured by aggregate volume by 45.29% while the value declined 90.43%. Investors traded a total of 469,084 units of shares valued at N8.90 million in 9 deals.
