Bearish Sentiment Persists As NGX-ASI Dips By 0.12%

Trading activities on the Nigerian equity market closed on a negative note, taking the trading losses to three consecutive sessions. The performance was buoyed by investors’ profit-taking sentiments in all the major sectors except oil & gas stocks. Hence, the ASI and Market Capitalization plunged by 0.12%. However, the market breadth closed at par, recording 15 losers and 15 gainers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed 46.77 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.12%, to close at 39,204.52 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization value lost N24 billion, representing a drop of 0.12% to close at N20.43 trillion.

REGALINS emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a price appreciation of +8.51%, while SCOA emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a price depreciation of -9.72%.

Today’s market negative performance was driven by price depriciation in large and medium capitalized stocks which are; VERITASKAP (-8.70%),MANSARD (-5.68%), CHAMS (-4.55%), INTBREW (-4.00%), GTCO (-1.99%), JAPAULGOLD (-1.92%), UPDC  (-1.67%),ETI (-0.95%),FIDELITYBK  (-0.85%), ZENITHBANK (-0.83%), STERLNBANK (-0.64%),STANBIC (-0.51%), UACN (-0.47%) and CUTIX(-0.42%)
