Trading activities on the Nigeria Equity Market today (Monday) closed on a negative note, began the week on a bearish note to end the three consecutive gaining streaks from last week, as NGX-ASI and market capitalization plunged by 0.44%. The decline was impacted by investors’ profit-taking sentiments in bellwether stocks like BUACEMENT, WAPCO, MTNN, DANGSUGAR, and 10 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively, recording 22 gainers against 14 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) decreased by 174.70 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.44% to close at 39,307.19 points. While the overall Market Capitalization value lost N91.43 billion, representing a dip of 0.44% to close at N20.49 trillion.

ETERNA emerged as the top gainer (by percentage points) for today, with a maximum price appreciation of 9.85%, while ENAMELWA emerged as the top loser (by percentage points) with a maximum price depreciation of -9.80%.

Today’s market lost was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalized stocks amongst which are; AFRIPRUD(-6.92%), NPFMCRF (-6.42%), WEMABANK(-5.17%), MANSARD(-3.30%), WAPCO(-2.42%), ACCESS(-2.37%), STANBIC(-2.17%), GUINNESS(-1.72%), GUARANTY(-1.67%), BUACEMENT(-1.16%), MTNN (-1.05%) DANGSUGAR(0.84%), and FCMB(-0.66%).
