Bargain hunting on banking stock led equity market to gain 1.41%
Activities on the Nigeria stock market extend gaining streak to four consecutive trading days by gaining 1.41%. The increase was majorly driven by banking sector. The market breadth closed positive, recording 32 gainers and 7 losers.

The All Share Index (ASI) grew by 437.03 absolute points, representing an increase of 1.41%, to close at 31,426.63 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization grew by N43.20 billion representing an increase of 1.39%, to close at N11.72 trillion due to the formal delisting of Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI).
DIAMONDBANK & TOTAL emerged the top gainers while CHIPLC emerged the top loser.
The uptrend was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; DIAMONDBANK (+10.00%), TOTAL (+10.00%), FCMB (+9.69%), ACCESS (+8.33%), UBA (+6.21%), ZENITHBANK (+3.84%), TRANSCORP (+3.17%) GUARANTY (+2.68%), HONYFLOUR (+2.33%), DANGCEM (+1.04%) and UACN (+0.58%).

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N362.65, traded high at N364.70 and eventually closed at N362.46, representing a 0.01% depreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $175.30 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 13.00%, to remain unchanged against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate also closed at 12.08% representing a 0.25% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.
