ASI sustains seesaw movement, dips by 0.14%.

The Equity Market closed lower today, shedding 0.14% as WAPCO, FBNH, SEPLAT, and 15 others closed southwards. The dip brought the seesaw movement of the ASI to 5 consecutive trading days; closing negative in 3 of the sessions.  Market breadth closed negative, recording 15 gainers and 17 losers.

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) was down by 45.73 absolute points, representing a decrease of 0.14%, closing at 32,108.30 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization decreased by N16.69 billion, representing a dip of 0.14%, closing at N11.72 trillion.

NIGERINS emerged the top gainer while AIICO emerged the top loser.

The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; WAPCO (-9.77%), DANGSUGAR (-3.35%), FLOURMILL (-1.18%), FBNH (-0.67%), GUARANTY (-0.67%) and SEPLAT (-0.31%).

The Naira at the inter-bank rate closed at N306.65, unchanged against yesterday’s closing price.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N363.51, traded high at N364.60 and eventually closed at N363.58, representing a 0.01% depreciation against yesterday’s closing price. A total of $228.80 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

 

MONEY MARKET

Overnight (O/N) rate closed at 4.58%, representing a 0.83% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate  closed  at 3.83% representing a 1.00% depreciation against yesterday’s closing position.
