4 sectors extends market uptrend as ASI-YTD turn positive
Activities on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) extended its uptrend to six consecutive trading sessions, turning the All-Share Index (ASI) positive after 50 trading days in the negative zone. Market breadth closed negative, recording 14 gainers and 24 losers.
NSE Trading Floor
The All Share Index (ASI) gained 332.36 absolute points, representing a growth of 1.07% to close at 31.477.51 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization grew by N146.39 billion, representing an increase of 1.07% to close at N13.86 trillion.
LAWUNION emerged the top gainer while LIVESTOCK & ACADEMY emerged as top losers.
The uptrend was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; NESTLE (+3.41%), UNILEVER (+3.23%), MOBIL (+2.94%), MTNN (+2.87%), GUARANTY (+1.80%), DANGCEM (+0.99%), and FBNH (+0.72%).

The Naira exchange rate at the official window stayed unchanged, closing at N306.90/$1, against yesterday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.36, traded high at N365.50 and eventually closed at N360.52 representing a 0.08% appreciation as against yesterday’s closing position. A total of $72.95 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 10.51%, representing a 5.21% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 9.86%, representing a 5.29% appreciation against yesterday’s closing position.

The NASD market turned positive after 5 days of negative sentiments and an unchanged session, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) gained 2.20% to close at 765.57 points. Market Capitalization also grew by N11.86 billion to close at N550.02 billion. Conversely, market activities measured by aggregate volume and value declined by 93.01% and 69.74% respectively. Investors traded a total of 16,305 units of shares valued at N1.45 million in 6 deals.
